Additionally, companies are overly dependent on SaaS providers for data backups, which heightens their risk in case of provider failures or breaches.

- Identify all SaaS applications being used across the enterprise as a matter of priority to gain a realistic view of risk exposure.
- Ensure all applications are backed up in locations that are separate from the SaaS providers and that all data can be recovered within an acceptable amount of time.
- Protect SSO and IAM solutions in particular, as they represent the front door to the majority of SaaS usage.
- Conduct a business impact analysis to determine Recovery Point Objectives (how much data you can afford to lose) and Recovery Time Objectives (how long you can tolerate SaaS downtime).
